Comp: First Chapter winners revealed

Back in August The Writers Collective in conjunction with Hermitage Press launched their First Chapters Competition to coincide with the Falmouth & Penryn FRINGE Book Festival (20-22nd October)

Celebrated authors Liz Fenwick, Roz Watkins, Emma Timpany, and The Writers Collective director, Sam Stone made up the judging panel for our first competition which had a two-and-a-half-month window for submissions…

After a great response to our first Festival competition, our winners were announced to festivalgoers on the last day of the festival (22nd October)…

Drumroll please…

our winners are:
David McGuire – The Jetsam
M W Swift  – The salt that binds us
Deborah Owen – The Rhapsodist

our shortlisted candidates were:
Alister O’Loughlin – Cult Movie
Christine Walker Booth – Lost Lives
Julie Hession – Bridge of Knowing
Michelle Marie Mcgrath – The Secrets of Water

Our top three finalists received a FREE pass to the Falmouth & Penryn FRINGE Book Festival, and a collection of books from this year’s festival. Our winners’ work has been submitted for a read-through with feedback by The Hermitage Press

Extracts from the top three excerpts will be published online by The Writers Collective social media channels along with a short bio for publicity purposes.
